Let the magic surround you because Magic Max is truly a miracle!

First, there's his looks. He is a gorgeous Maine Coon mix kitten, with long fluffy tail feathers, long fluffy bloomers, and big paws! He has loads of ear hairs and his fur is very soft. He may be a Norwegian Forest Cat mix.

But then there's his personality. He is into everything, excited by everything that occurs. He loves people and cats, and bounds across a room, he never walks. He loves to curl up with you, crawl under the covers with you, and get involved in EVERYTHING you are doing.

But then there's his story. Yes, every rescued cat has a story, a pitiful, heart-breaking story. And Max is no exception, but the great thing about his story is the happy, happy ending. And then, the realization that it's not the happy ending--yet--until YOU, that special family, come by and adopt him into your special home.

Max was found pulling himself along in the bushes by a busy street in Tomball, Texas by a family who couldn't afford vet care for him, and didn't want to take him to a shelter. They brought him to the local church resale shop for help, and the shop called Happy Cat Adoptions.

Max had obviously been hit by a car.

He had tire marks across his body, he was dragging himself by his front legs, and his tail was bent and dirty. It was late Saturday, so we took him to the emergency room.

It was one of the heart-breaking times. The ER took x-rays and it showed Max had multiple pelvic fractures as well as a shattered lower left hip. The vet recommended euthasia, for fear he would be paralized all his life, and never be able to (forgive the bluntness) defecate and urinate.

Happy Cat Adoptions administration put our heads together. Max was not in danger of dying--he was in danger of not being able to live well. So we decided to wait and see. The vet "expressed" his bladder and we took him home.

The next day, a friend in rescue came to express his bladder for us. She has a paralized cat and is familiar with the process. However, Magic Max had already done the deed for her!

We were just waiting for the "other" process. And next day, Magic Max performed that function as well.

On the following day, he had an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon, who told us the fractures were clean, had happened probably a week before, and that he wouldn't rebreak them or do anything at that point, but to keep Max caged for a few months to see what kind of mobilitiy he had.

Max stayed in a cage for nearly three months, complaining all the while, and showed how absolutely loving he could be. And that's another miracle. He was so loving, so pleasant, so sweet, even though caged.

During that time, the tip of his tail fell off--it was dead, no circulation, and he just lost it one day. There is still a kink in the tip, but it just makes him a little debonair.

And the final miracle: Max walks, runs, jumps, and chases the other kittens in the house. He plays with toys, hops up on things he isn't supposed to, and is, in fact, the wonderful kitten he was meant to be.

Max' original family was never located.

He went back to the orthopedic surgeon for new x-rays and is now released for adoption.

He's been neutered, and is current on his vaccinations and ready to "hop" into a new home.
