Sweety is, well, sweet. He's so sweet, although his foster mom and dad tried and tried to come up with another name for him, the only name that's ever stuck is Sweety Boy.

Sweety came to his foster home one day, some years ago, with another cat. They weren't buddies, but Sweety clung like glue to the other cat. After a couple of days, his foster family realized Sweety was deaf--and terrified to be outside. They searched for anyone missing him--or both cats--but no owner was found.

Sweety was younger then, and after being neutered and vaccinated, was almost immediately adopted by a wonderful couple who had a black cat who was the negative image of the Sweet! He lived with them for several years, loving having a friend and a home of his own.

But good luck for the family spelled back luck for Sweety. Sweety can't hear himself, so he can't modulate his voice, and he can be very loud, calling for his friends, calling for his dinner, calling for cuddling...and the young couple became pregnant and had a baby.

They had gotten used to Sweety's call, and didn't even hear him when they were asleep, but the baby did. And woke up every time. After a year of trying all kinds of methods to keep the sound from the baby's room, they gave up and sadly brought Sweety back.

He's looking for a new home now. He'd love to have another cat to play with--preferably a cat big enough to take his wild antics when he wants to play! Sweety loves stairs, and will run and jump down them. He loves to chase up and down the stairs with a willing companion.

Sweety is sweet on humans too. He loves to cuddle up with you, sleep in your arms, curl up on a lap or on the sofa arm or back.

His long fur doesn't really need brushing--but it benefits from it. He doesn't tolerate a lot of brushing, though, because when he was returned, his fur was matted and dry from the emotional turmoil he'd gone through. It took months of brushing and clipping to get him back to his glorious coat of fur. So a little soft brushing is a good thing.

Sweety is one loving, gentle giant. Is there room for a bouncing deaf boy in your house? A boy with a loud cry and a big, big heart?

If so, go to his webpage at www.HappyCatAdoptions.org and click the adoptions link under his photo to read the adoption process, then click again to fill out an online application so that you can visit the sweet, sweet, boy. He'll be waiting.
