If you have found a Happy Cat, or you want to return a cat you've adopted from Happy Cat Adoptions, just call and we will arrange to pick up the cat.  We make a lifetime committment to the cats we rescue.

If you need to find a home for a cat that is NOT from Happy Cat Adoptions:

Go to your local PetsMart and Petco on both Saturday and Sunday and find out what adoption agencies adopt from those locations and interview them for the possibility of placing your cat.

  • If you agree to foster your cat while s/he is up for adoption, you'll have a greater chance of getting placement in an agency. Foster homes are few and far between. There are many homeless cats and few people willing to foster.
  • Most Houston "kill" shelters put to death 300-500 cats and kittens each day at each shelter. Please do your best to find a good home for your cat before giving her to a shelter.
  • Put ads in the local papers, put flyers up in grocery stores, doctor and dentist offices, book stores, health food stores, vet offices, kennels, wherever cat lovers might see them. Use the adoption agency you've chosen for contact information, or use your own phone number and say, "up for adoption through x at (website)" so that your cat gets maximum exposure.
  • Send emails with your cat's bio and photo to everyone you know and ask them to help you disseminate the information to find a home.
  • Make sure your cat is up to date with vaccinations (FVRCP and rabies), has had a "combo" test for FIV and FeLV, is spayed or neutered, and is in good health. This will increase your chances of placement in an agency and decrease the amount of time it takes to get your cat up for adoption.

If you have rescued a cat and need help in placing her, see the instructions above,or read our webpage, "How to find a home for a cat."

If you need help in getting your animals spayed or neutered, contact us for lower-cost medical care ideas. Currently, we recommend the Texas Litter Control, KAAWS Clinic, SNAP, or The Greater Good for low-cost veterinary care.
